Hello World :)

Senior Software and Research Engineer at Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

Andreas MenychtasMy work as Senior Software and Research Engineer in European and national research projects (such as SAM, ARTIST, 4CaaST, EPIC, IRMOS, NextGRID, EGEE and HellasGRID) covers several areas of Information and Communication Technologies. Through these projects, I have gained expertise in the areas of Cloud Computing, Data Management, Software Engineering and Development, System Analysis, Design and Validation, QoS Provisioning and Optimization in Distributed and Service Oriented Environments.

Since 2008, in addition to my research and engineering efforts, I act as team leader and technical coordinator for several research and development activities. My responsibilities include project and team management, reporting, proposal writing, recruiting, team inspiration and mentoring.

My doctoral dissertation, completed in May 2009, focused on the design and implementation of system architectures and methodologies to assure QoS in Service Oriented and Cloud Environments.

In 2010, I joined the Technological Education Institute of Athens as Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Business Administration and as Laboratory Professor at the Department of Computer Science. I teach the courses “Methodologies for Software Development”, “Internet Programming” and “e-commerce”. The courses include, among other topics, Object-Oriented Programming, Java EE (JSP, Servlet, Enterprise Beans, Persistence), Web Services (SOAP/REST), JavaScript and AJAX. Also since 2010, I teach the course “Java Programming Language” at the Computer Programming Military School of Hellenic Ministry of Defense. In this course I focus on Object-Oriented Programming, Core Java Language Features, GUIs, I/O, Concurrency, JDBC while as supervisor and mentor of all graduation thesis, I teach the students best practices using Web Programming technologies and concepts such as Java EE, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery and AJAX.

My research spans the areas of Cloud Computing, Elasticity Management, Service Oriented Infrastructures, Service Level Agreements, QoS Provisioning and Optimization, Cloud Marketplaces and Smart City Platforms and Services. My work has appeared in over 50 scientific journals, conferences and book chapters (the complete list of publications is available here).
